PaperCut MF 17.2.1 (Early Access Build 41178)

Enhancements:

  • User web interface refresh:
    • The refreshed, modern interface introduced in 17.0 on the Admin UI has been expanded to the User web interface. This latest UI update provides users with a more intuitive and clean interface.
    • Support is provided for reverting to the pre-17.2 User web interface branding via a config key (user-ui.apply-new-style). This key will be available until v18.0.
  • Payment Gateway module: The Payment Gateway pages have been redesigned in line with the rest of the User web interface. Note: You need to upgrade your Payment Gateway module to v17.2.0 or above to take advantage of the new design.
  • Branding customization:
    • The Admin web interface and User web interface login screens can now have a custom background image, background color, and Log in button color.
    • The Options > General page now provides a simple way to customize the branding of the Admin web interface, User web interface, User Client, and Login screen.
    • A Reset to default button has been provided for all customization options.
  • GDPR print management, data privacy and security compliance: To comply with General Data Protection Regulation in Europe:
    • added the ability to permanently redact user data, to comply with the "Right to be Forgotten".
    • added the ability to extract all data about a user, to comply with the "Right to Access".
  • Shared Accounts:
    • Added the ability to restrict Admin rights to manage specific shared accounts rather than all shared accounts.
    • The 'Perform bulk changes' admin right now controls 'Batch Import/Update', 'Shared Account Sync', and 'Bulk account actions'.
    • When creating a shared account, the "Sub Account of" field displays only the accounts the Admin has access to.
    • The Quick find search will only search for accounts to which the Admin has access.
    • Added tooltips for the icons on the Shared Account List page.
  • Secure Print / Find-Me printing: Enhancements to Secure Print and Find-Me now make it easier to find printers and get your configuration right the first time. Changes include:
    • Improved the Find-Me configuration experience by suggesting print queues that have been configured with the same network address as the device.
    • The Find-Me destination section on the Device Details page has been clarified with the addition of a third option for a scenario where multiple queues from different operating systems are pointing to the same device.
  • Web Print: Improved the Application Log messages for debugging purposes by providing details of the Web Print server hostname.
  • Added support for new Dimatek Value Loader hardware.

Fixes:

  • Site Server:
    • Fixed an issue with Site Servers not going to offline mode when the Application Server was reachable but not operational.
    • Fixed a problem preventing newly registered web services devices on a Site Server from automatically starting (since 17.1).
  • Fixed a performance issue when opening the Admin or User web interface after a restart (since 17.1).
  • Fixed an issue preventing toner notifications from being sent when a replaced toner becomes low.
  • When a device is disconnected from the Application Server, improved the error message for the user and added a Refresh button on the PaperCut MF interface on the device.

Copier / Device Integration:

Canon (MEAP) version 1.3.0*:

      • Added a new optional button for quick guest access (anonymous authentication in conjunction with other authentication methods).
      • Provided a fix for an issue introduced by recent third generation firmware that caused the Print and Delete buttons to be hidden on the Print Release screen.
      • Fixed an issue when Canon's AMS (Access Management System) was enabled, that did not allow users to enter the "@" special character in the email address, when using the native scan to email functionality.
      • Added support to accept fax jobs from Canon remote fax software.
      • Added support for Canon v305 firmware.
      • Added support for Canon Vesuvianite series (imagePRESS C650, C850).

HP (OSA):

      • Added the ability to customize the account selection 'Account Code/PIN' label.
      • Users can now select multiple Print Release jobs to print or cancel.

Konica Minolta (OpenAPI):

      • The certified PaperCut MF connector version is now 3.3.0.
      • Added a new optional button for quick guest access (anonymous authentication in conjunction with other authentication methods).
      • Reduced session cleanup downtime that caused the device to become unusable for an extended period of time.
      • Fixed an issue causing the welcome message on some devices to display incorrectly.
      • Fixed an issue on A4 devices that would cause a scan to incorrectly be set as landscape instead of as portrait when scanning a landscape page to PDF in portrait mode.
      • Fixed an issue when re-initializing the device that caused the Public User Account settings to be incorrectly reconfigured and disabled integration with third party applications (EFI Fiery).
      • Added the ability to automatically log out the first user and log in a second user, if a second user's card is swiped on the network card reader whilst the first user's session is active.
      • Fixed an Application Server restart issue that caused some previously connected devices to become disconnected with the status "Started (with errors) " on the Devices > External Device List page.
      • iOption: Reduced the swipe card login time by up to 50% in some situations.
      • Fixed an issue that prevented compatibility with some older devices.
      • Fixed an issue when changing the language settings in the Device Details > Advanced Config Editor page on the PaperCut Admin web interface, that caused Integrated Scanning to become unusable.
      • The "Device Functions" and "Integrated Scanning" pages are now correctly titled rather than being called "Page Title".
      • Improved text positioning on the device interface to accommodate varying text character lengths across different languages.

Lexmark (LeSF v2.4.1)*:

      • Support for customizing the screen timeout for PaperCut MF pages.
      • Improved performance of SSL communications on eSF 5 and below devices.
      • Fixed a rare issue that caused a device to become unresponsive after a copy/scan job was cancelled due to insufficient funds.
      • Fixed an issue causing the Print Release page header and the user balance to be incorrectly displayed on devices with small displays.
      • Fixed an issue causing eSF 5 and 6 (Android) devices to display 'Guest' on the Home screen instead of the actual logged in user.
      • Access rights to device functions on eSF 5 and 6 devices are now controlled by the Application Server.
      • Fixed an issue causing page headers to be incorrectly displayed on the device for some non-English locales.
      • Fixed an issue preventing scanning jobs to USB drives on Android devices.

Ricoh (SmartSDK v2.0.2)*:

      • Fixed an issue where the embedded application fails to install on some devices.

Sindoh (n5xx with iOption):

      • Support for Integrated Scanning.

Sharp (OSA):

      • Added the ability to customize the account selection 'Account Code/PIN' label.
      • Users can now select multiple Print Release jobs to print or cancel.

Toshiba (e-BRIDGE Open Platform):

      • E-bridge Next Eco/Hybrid devices: Support for tracking "Erasable Blue" color type.

Toshiba eConnect:

      • Added the ability to customize the account selection 'Account Code/PIN' label.
      • Users can now select multiple Print Release jobs to print or cancel.

Toshiba eSF (v2.4.1)*:

      • Support for customizing the screen timeout for PaperCut MF pages.

Toshiba (MDS):

      • Integrated Scanning: Fixed an issue causing Integrated Scanning to fail on Toshiba firmware version 1050.
      • Added a configuration option to specify the screen that is displayed when a user logs into a device. Previously, the 'Copy' screen was always displayed on login.

Xerox (EIP):

    • EIP 3.0+: Support for Integrated Scanning.
    • EIP 3.0+: Users can now select multiple Print Release jobs to print or cancel.
    • EIP 3.1+: Support for embedded keyboards used in 2nd generation EIP browser (WebKit) applications. Support can be turned off using the "ext-device.xerox.force-widget-keyboard" config key.
    • Support for tracking printing from USB drives.
    • Support for the prevention of job release to printers reporting errors.
    • Support for branding customization (header, logo, background and text color).
    • A configuration option is now available to bypass the Home screen and go directly to the Account Selection screen if Print Release is enabled and the user doesn't have any job pending to release.

Other Notes:

  • This release contains an internal database upgrade only, which does not affect Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL. The upgrade, including backup, can take some time. Please plan appropriately.
  • This release contains a Payment Gateway module update, which requires an upgrade to take advantage of the design changes made. The previous Payment Gateway module will still be functional if not upgraded, but with degraded UI.
  • End User License Agreement (EULA) updated with UK specific clause.
  • Devices marked with * require installing an updated version of the embedded software to access new features and fixes.
