How to prevent end users from printing directly to the printer?
文章 There are a number of ways of preventing direct printer access. They are listed below:

1) Most networked printers have a simple configuration web page.  You can use this page to set up access rules based on IP address (usually called ACLs).  Set it up so only the server's IP is granted access. This is the most common and simplest method.

  2) Another common method on the larger organizations is to run the printers on a different non-routable subnet.  Rules are set at the router level so only the server can route traffic to the printers.  This is generally regarded as best practice as it also simplifies IP address allocation to printers.

  3) Basic firewall rules at the router level. This can be done without hosting printers on a different network.  This is appropriate if there is a small number of printers.
